ICD-10-CM Transition Plan

Countdown: 35 Days to Transition

At Dominion Diagnostics and across the U.S., the transition to ICD-10 diagnosis codes is set to occur on the October 1, 2015 deadline.  Starting October 1, 2015, you'll be required to submit ICD-10 diagnosis codes with all testing orders you place with Dominion Diagnostics via paper requisitions or electronic orders.  Please read the following information carefully in order to be fully prepared for the transition.

Clients Ordering Via Paper Requisitions:

Dominion's Client Services Supply Center will ship a supply of NEW REQUISITIONS that accommodate ICD-10 diagnosis codes in early September. Your shipment will contain the new requisitions, customized to your program, as well as instructions to dispose of all remaining old requisition inventory at your location(s).  You may begin using the new requisitions upon receipt of this shipment.  You may continue to write in ICD-9 diagnosis codes through September 30, 2015. All orders placed on or after October 1st will require an associated ICD-10 code(s).

Clients Ordering Via Dominion Connect Online Order Entry:

Our cutover to ICD-10 diagnosis codes in the Dominion Connect Online Order Entry application is scheduled to occur at 4:00 AM (Eastern Time) on October 1, 2015.  This will accommodate test orders generated in all U.S. time zones on October 1st.  The list of available Diagnosis Codes stored in Dominion Connect will change from ICD-9 codes to ICD-10 codes at that time.  Any updates to test orders placed in Dominion Connect Order Entry prior to the ICD-10 cutover on Oct 1 will continue to accommodate ICD-9 codes. All orders placed on or after October 1st will require an associated ICD-10 code(s).

Clients Ordering Via EMR Interface:

Please work directly with your EMR vendors to plan necessary upgrades in your EMR that address the ICD-10 transition starting Oct 1.  Dominion's Information Technology team is available to assist you in determining EMR readiness for the transition set to occur. All orders placed on or after October 1st will require an associated ICD-10 code(s).

Transition resources, including an ICD-9 to ICD-10 Crosswalk Guide are available online at www.dominiondiagnostics.com/icd10.  For questions, please e-mail our ICD-10 Transition Support Team at icd10@dominiondiagnostics.com.
