Patient Information

Dominion Diagnostics is the clinical laboratory that your physician or healthcare provider has chosen to integrate into his or her practice and your treatment.

Common Patient Questions
Who is Dominion Diagnostics?

Dominion Diagnostics provides clinical drug testing and medication monitoring services to assist your physician or healthcare provider in understanding how to approach your treatment effectively.  Your provider chose Dominion Diagnostics in order to obtain objective diagnostic information to make appropriate and informed decisions that enhance your treatment and improve your outcomes.

Why would my doctor have a drug monitoring policy?

Your provider cares about your safety and the safety of all patients.  As a patient, you may not realize that your provider's ability to service the community can be severely limited or stopped entirely if you or other patients misuse or divert medications or illicit drugs.  Additionally, drug-drug interactions can also be harmful to treatment in certain cases.  Many providers across the country partner with Dominion Diagnostics to implement drug monitoring policies in their programs.

If I have insurance, will I receive a bill from Dominion Diagnostics?

Dominion is a Medicare and Medicaid provider for laboratory services and an in-network provider with most commercial insurance plans.  Our payer relations team works to expand our payer network.  Dominion Diagnostics accepts reimbursements as determined by your coverage plan.  After your insurance carrier has been billed for services, you may receive an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) for such.  Although the EOB details the costs of laboratory services performed, it is NOT a bill.  Dominion Diagnostics will, as required by law, attempt to collect any co-pays, deductibles or other fees for which your insurance carrier deems you responsible.  You would also receive a bill if your insurance carrier does not cover testing or if you are uninsured.

What if I have insurance but my statement identifies me as a "self-pay" patient?

If this is the case, it's possible that we didn't receive your complete insurance information.  Simply fill out the back of your Patient Statement with your current complete insurance information and mail it to the address listed below.  Or, you can fax the information to our HIPAA compliance fax line at 1-401-667-0331.  Please follow the fax with a phone call to 1-800-511-8427, Option 4 so that our team may confirm receipt.

Are your fees ever included in the fees paid to my doctor or clinic?

Dominion Diagnostics provides a service that is separate from your doctor's office visit or clinic services.  Therefore, your insurance will be billed separately for our services.  If you do not have insurance, you will receive a special Patient Statement indicating where the services originated.  If you have questions, please contact us directly.  Our Billing Support team offers assistance for patient inquiries.

How can I pay my bill?

The simplest way to pay your bill is through our Online Bill Pay service which allows payments by credit card or bank account/electronic check.  If you cannot afford to pay your bill in full, payment schedules can be arranged by calling our Billing Support Team at 1-800-511-8427, Option 4.
